Two market-rate senior-living towers, 26 and 23 stories, proposed for the Trader Joe's site at 5727 College Avenue, with no affordable units and a grocery space that carries no commitment to a grocer.
Entitled by the City (Dec 2024)
A large residential redevelopment of the historic 4.5-acre CCA campus, approved in 2024 but not yet built. UBA initially preferred the original design of:
Eventually, the landowner, CCA, opted for a much more profitable proposal which included the elimination of all arts education spaces and the construction of two enormous, bulky buildings.
The project was thrown into question when CCA closed all of its campuses and was purchased by Vanderbilt University in January 2026.
Preliminary application only (submitted 6/27/2024)
A 15-story, 170-foot mixed-use tower proposed for 5295 College Avenue, with 88 residential units, office and retail space, and a full-service restaurant. Only a preliminary application has been filed.
No new retail stores' construction after demolition of old stores in 2015.
Rebuilding of the existing shopping center was to happen in 2 stages: Phase 1 and Phase 2, Phase 1 was completed but due to lack of interest from retailers, no new retail stores were built on the Phase 2 lot (which remains vacant since 2015).
